Tome Visitor Center and Towson University Research and Education Center

Begin your visit at the Tome Visitor Center and Towson University Research and Education Center, located in the historic Tome Gas House in Marina Park, right beside Tome’s Landing Marina.


Park in Marina Park and enjoy a scenic walk along the waterfront promenade to reach us. Learn about the Northern Map Turtle, our town mascot, Rhonda, and the ongoing research and conservation efforts by Towson University.

Jacob Tome Gas House - Visitor Center

Open Seasonally - June through September

Explore educational displays about the Susquehanna River ecosystem and the Northern Map Turtle. During open hours, volunteers are available to answer questions and share information about local wildlife and conservation.

Annual Port Deposit Pirate Takeover
