Please note: County ordinances require that your property’s address number be clearly posted and visible from the street.​

FORMS, PERMITS & FEES

Permits are required for zoning, construction, signage, events, and Historic Area (HAC) changes.

​

  • Fence Permit: $15

  • Historic Area Certificate: $20

  • Zoning / Construction / Change of Use: $35

  • Pavilion / Event Rental: $35 + $50 refundable deposit

  • Boat Trailer Parking: $10 daily / $50 annual

HISTORIC AREA

The Town of Port Deposit is recognized on the National Register of Historic Places.

​

Exterior changes visible from a public way in the Historic Area require a Certificate of Appropriateness. Applications are reviewed monthly, with decisions typically within 45 days.

​

The Historic Area Commission (HAC) considers: architectural style, materials, scale, and streetscape impact.

LITTLE FREE LIBRARY

The Port Deposit Little Free Library, located at the corner of Center Street and 7 N Main Street near the municipal parking lot, is part of the worldwide Little Free Library® network.

 

As a community book exchange, it invites everyone to take a book, leave a book, and help spread a love of reading throughout Port Deposit.

MOSQUITO CONTROL

The Town partners with Cecil County and the Maryland Department of Agriculture for mosquito control. Spraying schedules vary seasonally. Spraying usually begins in late May or early June and continues through September. Spraying may continue into October if conditions warrant.

Residents can reduce mosquito populations by:

​

  • Emptying standing water around homes

  • Maintaining gutters and drains

  • Reporting mosquito concerns to Town Hall

TRASH & RECYCLING

Provider: Casella Waste Systems, Inc. (410-457-0404).

​

  • Household trash and recyclables are collected every Monday. If a holiday falls on Monday, collection shifts to Tuesday. Contact Town Hall directly regarding missed collections or damaged cans. Read full guidelines below.

  • Bulk item collection must be scheduled with Casella and not placed at curb more than 24 hours in advance.

  • Hazardous waste must be taken to Cecil County Landfill.
