Baron Appointed to Vacant Seat on the Port Deposit Council

Port Deposit, MD – At their meeting on February 2, 2021, the Port Deposit Council unanimously appointed William Baron to fill the vacancy on the Council. The vacancy was created when Mayor Tome resigned on January 7, 2021 and former Council member Robert Kuhs was appointed to serve the balance of the Mayor’s term of office through 2023.  Mr. Baron was sworn into office as a member of the Council at the beginning of the meeting on February 16, 2021 and joined the other Council members at the table.

Councilman Baron moved with his wife, Danielle, to Port Deposit from the New York City area in July 2018.  Mr. Baron retired from a 39-year career in Retail and Distribution Operations.  While visiting his wife’s family in Maryland, they would frequently cross the Mildred E. Tydings Bridge and admired the beautiful Town of Port Deposit.  They had the opportunity to move to the town to enjoy the wonderful history, home town hospitality of area, and life on the Susquehanna River.

Councilmember Baron said, “I wanted to become more involved in the community and this was the perfect opportunity. As the newest council person, I look forward to preserving and supporting the Town Charter and to be a part of the exciting future of this town.”
